you say goodbye and cover yourself up in synthetics. you change your hair and you change your name, but somewhere beneath your whole new life, both you and i know that you are... still crying.

[ mood | annoyed ]

i've stayed home today with a sore throat, i have been rather fatigued and i decided sleep could do some help. i slept until 11:30, and ended up over a bowl of cinnamon life and the news playing on my tv. i watched bush sign the patriot act again, and the entire duration of the speech i was repeating the same questions in my head:

how is this justified?

the president came back so many times to the prevention of terrorist cells from developing in our country, that many arrests have been made. i find this prevention to be a good thing, but i am confused at why our government cannot use the process of warrants to do so. the united states have been stable as a nation because we attempt to secure our civil liberties. since the beginning of the 20th century our country has taken a plunge into scores of corruption and executive-level scandals. we as the people of the united states are not under a monarchy - we are represented by what we call democracy. be this a truth or a delusional facade for us to try to support, it remains one, if not our only possibility for salvation. with approval ratings for this president to be so low, why is it we have not removed him from power? we are not under a king or queen, we are choosing a president to REPRESENT us as a whole. there is no logic in the retention of our president. through constitutional violations and hypocritical policy amongst foreign nations, the number of injustices in our current administration are obscene. we need to hold onto our civil rights, we need to keep this country in the hands of what WE feel is right. we are the people, the heart of what this country stands for, and we have the power to bring this to justice.

hypocracy stands for only so long. the united states government has created policy on top of policy in our interest, "the preservation of national security". preventing nuclear proliferation appears noble, preventative - but our policy is faulty. we condemn such nations as iran and north korea for their acts, but approve the partnership of nuclear energy with india? how do we allow our government to violate policy in such manners?

i have made many questions in this entry, and unfortunately many will remain unanswered. until we as the people will stand up, these circumstances will exist. until the people demand change, this is how it will be. if you took the time to read this entry, please give me your perspective on the issue.
